I think Michael Jackson's music will be relevant for the next 40 years and beyond, I mean the music he made 40 years ago is still being played now so its a pretty logical conclusion. Plus his album 'Thriller' is the biggest selling in the world and it was made 25 years ago, still relevant now. He has influenced many artists and shaped a lot of the sounds we hear today, not to mention his influence on music videos, the way that concerts are presented, etc. the man is a genius.

GOOD question! IN my opinion, id say Jimmy Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton and Janis Jopin made a huge impact on music for years to come!

rolling stones

simon and garfunkel....paul simon once said a pop song that lasts four years is a mircale! look at them now, still selling!
bob dylan. these days i think sigur ros will be overlooked, but be heralded in the future

I don't know if they created a revolution of any kind, but many people know of The Who and have been inspired by the likes of Keith Moon and such.
