No, I wouldn't say at all you are too old!

It may be a good idea to look into getting into band, if your school has it available. There they will teach you all of your basic techniques and beat patterns - and how to read music! It also gives you good experience with playing in a large group of musicians.

However, if you don't want to join band, you might consider taking private lessons. Perhaps your local music store might offer them.

What I found difficult (with a drum set) was beating on one thing, and doing something else with the other hand - all while using the bass medal. AH! It can be overwhelming at times.

You mainly just have to remember not to give up, and follow through with your dream of playing the drums!

Good luck!

no its pretty easy!

they are hard to learn cause you have to get used to hiting more then one thing at the same time but at dirffrent times if you know what i mean....i learned! and i was 13 too! you get the hang of it after awhile! it takes practice! after you get used to a basic beat you can pick up other beats easier

No, its not that hard at all. I learned at 16. You just have to put in the time, the practice and the effort to learn them, that's all.

They're just as hard as learning any other instrument: if you work at it and practice a lot, you'll do fine. But if you DON'T work at it, people can tell.

We get a lot of percussionists coming through our orchestra, you can always tell the ones that work hard. The ones that don't work hard get yelled at by the conductor. A lot :)

I've always wanted to play the drums as well. I've also always thought that female drummers were just so cool; there aren't very many famous ones. My dad was a drummer, so perhaps I'll follow in his footsteps one day. But I think I'll wait for a little while and see if my interest persists. It has been for a very long time. If so, in years to come, I'll buy myself a drumset.
You can never be to old to play music.
