Question:Ok, so I took a plastic tab, usually used to seal bread packets and stuff, and I shaped it like a well, pick...(like you suggested, Saul) cos I dont have one and I'm going to buy one tomorow hopefully... Anyways, the problem's not that.,....
The problem is my strumming... It sounds so horrible and very loud!!
I feel like i have to DRAG through the strings... Also I dont understand if i should go slow and hit every string individually or just go through all of them at once. And I dont understand upstroke-downstroke either.... Is it always so um... hard to go through the strings or is it smooth? I've seen videos and people strum like crazy which they're supposed to but even a simple strum of mine sounds very blurry and unclear. Any advice? =((
PS: sorry people, I get very annoying asking so many "guitar" questions...Cant help it =))

OK. If the strings are buzzing they're probably too close to the fretboard. Have the guitar looked at by someone who knows.
Strumming. yeah go across all the stringa at once. Hitting the strings individually is a recognised technique useful for certain songs. When you strum, move your hand mainlty from the wrist with just a little forearm movement. Do it lightly- the harder you do it the louder it will be. Real picks come in different thicknesses, it may be thet using a lighter one will help.
Upstroke -downstroke is just that. Start with a down stroke across all the strings. Keep doing just that until you are comfortable with it. Then on the return (up)stroke hit the strings. Down up, down up. When you can do that, you can spped up your strumming and get into playing patterns, like down, down up, up, down.

Hope this helps and if I can help further, go to my profile and email me.

you probably need to tune it

well you should go through all strings at once not one at a time try using ur hand or the back of ur nails at first and just smoothly drag ur fingers over the strings

ur strings are too lose on the neck

I don't know anything about guitars though I do have one. It was the last thing that my mom and dad bought me for christmas just before my dad died.

After he died I lost interest in doing all kinds of things. Got really depressed so I never took lessons to learn how to play it.

However, I do have it still because it reminds me of my dad.
