"There's no such thing as a free meal."

No matter what, you will end up paying.

Go online for tuition, you're paying for your internet connection.

Unless you have a very, very good friend who happens to be a guitar tutor, who has three years to spare, you will pay.

Sorry, but that's the truth of it.

best way is to just get a teacher.
or you could try searching in youtube for guitar lessons, thats not a bad idea.
or just search for 'learn guitar for free' ot 'free guitar lessons for free' on google or yahoo.
try this http://www.onlineguitarlessons.co.uk/ it has basics, theory, chords etc...
good luck

just type in guitar tuner

Barter. Offer a friend (or friend of a friend) something in exchange for them teaching you, especially teaching in one form or another (Maths? How to swim?)

I found the best way is to buy an acoustic guitar (£130 or so new for a reasonable quality one), then learn the main chords yourself (A,B,C,D,E,F,G). Learn the major and the minor chords for each, e.g. 'A minor' or 'D major.' This might sound like jargon but any website will explain more with diagrams.

You want tuition for free and you're tired of people selling you books....
That doesn't make sense, unless you're referring to method books from your guitar teachers.
There is no free money or free lessons, unless you're in college and you've received a federal grant from the state. Even the "lessons" on YouTube only go so far -- if the teachers making videos on YouTube only did it for free, they'd have no money to live on.

You can't expect to learn guitar for free. You need method books to be able to progress steadily and learn all the tricks of playing the guitar. I suggest you get a private teacher and they'll get you a method book that you can stick with for awhile if you tell them you want a book that will last you a few months.

just learn all major and minor chords....then learn to read music...it all becomes clear.........practice...practice...you will find all you need online for free...search free guitar chords..good luck...maybe I will hear your music someday

It's probably a faster way to learn having a teacher, but books are how I tought myself. I learned to play from books and listening to what I wanted to play. You will need patience and plenty of practice, a teacher is just an added bonus if you can afford it :-)
