Question:

If someone has a naturally good voice how much improvement would voice lessons actually offer?

do voice lessons improve your voice even better, like 50% better if one has a pretty nice voice to begin with?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Yes, they most definitely do. Taking voice lessons helps teach you how to properly use your abs to support your voice, instead of your throat and jaw. I take voice lessons and tension in my throat and jaw is what I have the most trouble with. It also helps with intonation and to improve your range.

I had a pretty good voice, but I started taking voice lessons this past summer, learned a few songs, and performed one at a studio class. My friend, who is a really good singer, told me that was the best she'd ever heard me sing. There was a noticable improvement in my voice, my intonation. I also learned that I was an alto, even though I had been singing first soprano in choir all year long.

Voice lessons definitely help. If you want to improve your voice, they are one of the best investments you can make. I think so, because in professional lessons they teach you to do use your muscles correctly and not strain or damage your vocal chords. There are a lot of factors that go into having a good voice. Such as breath support, control, intonation, projection, etc. You're fooling yourself if you think there's no room to improve (that goes for anything) yes they do improve your voice they help to strengthen your vocal cord so you can hold longer/ clearer notes Lessons help a ton. I always liked to sing and I was considered an alto because of my voice and other small details. Then, I took lessons and I control my voice, extend my range to soprano high and alto low and project my voice. Lessons are wonderful and I hope you take them!! May not improve one's voice but, might learn how to fine-tune it. What good is having a good voice but, not know how to use it to its potential? join barbershop type choirs and learn tons for free...well all most free....best voice lessons around some people are born with chunks of natural talent, some with smaller bits. If you just leave it at raw talent, that's all it will ever be. If you add training, introspection, discipline, humility for the work, and the work itself into the mix, you can come out with something truly unique.
I mean, most all of us are born with legs, so it's conceivable that we can all run. ( I'm glad to get out to the bus stop to catch that bus) what about the folks who can run well, but never go any farther than that? then there's the folks who really like to run, and have had some training-maybe some of them go into track and field. what about the Olympic runners- whre would they be without all that work?
You'll get a great deal out of singing lessons, plus the satisfaction of knowing that you are taking something that's good and making it not only better, but unique. Isn't that worth it?
Best wishes and keep on singing Indeed, voice lessons, coupled with music lessons can improve the natural talent that is there--if you are in the hands of a good teacher.
If you sing well, that's great. But a beautiful vase, without something equally beautiful inside it, is not coming up to its potential.
Its the same with voice training, athletics, academics. Just about everyone can benefit by having innate abilities, opened and be made so much better, with the proper coaching. The improvement would probably be in the WAY you use your voice - singing the proper way can help your range & keep you from damaging yourself in the process. Try it, you can always stop &/or start over again.
