winemkr: Wow, Luther Allison! Man that guy could play! I am an expert "Air Guitar" player.

I have been personally mentored by Luther Allison and his custom made Les Paul "sky blue" guitar shaped like the United States of America.

Luther was always mesmerizing, but when he was done doing his standards he would dismiss the rest of his band, crank up his amps, and crank out Jimi Hendicks for another hour or so (solo).

Luther played twice in a club I was managing and both times it was the dead of winter and he and his band were lucky to even make to the club (it was in northern michigan) .

We never had more than ten or twenty people there because of the weather, but that never kept him from giving the people what they came to see.

We always had a big steak dinner ready for the guys after the first set, and they really appreciated that.

Luther used to send me postcards for years after those gigs from all over the world.

He was a genuinely warm human being who loved people who loved the blues.

I haven't thought of him in a while, I'm glad you asked that question Paul.

4 I'm fond of mine but, a Dime Slime would be pretty awesome. I have had to sell a couple of my acoustic guitars....had a Gibson and a Martin. Both were really nice...if you ask me, the Martin was a little better.
I play a Gibson Les Paul Classic and a Gibson SG Standard.
Most of the time, I play through pedals with headphones on and don't disturb anyone.
When I play through an amp, I have a Crate twin reverb chorus amp with an effects pedal loop....I run my multi-effects pedal through there and get lots of sounds.
I have played lots of guitars over the years.
A cool thing to do is go to the guitar shop and try the guitars.
The only problem with that is everytime you walk in the door they might think you are going to buy something....
nobody can buy guitars constantly. Sooner or later your credit card maxes out or whatever.
Sooner or later you just have to stick with the ones you have and play them. I have two Alvarez and 12 string Martin. Don't play electric but when I did it was my sons. No Amp Best played was a Martin, but I really want a Taylor sweet sound. I own two acoustic-electric guitars. one is an Ibanez Dreadnought style and the other is a Takamine classical guitar. I love the Takamine but the Ibanez is trash. I wish I would have stuck to my guns and got a steel stringed Takamine instead of the Ibanez. I run a Behringer V-tone and a Peavey transtube 258 EFX. The Peavey is so much smaller than the Behringer but out classes it by far.
The BEST guitar I ever actually played was a Jose Ramirez at the Guitar Center that was 3500 bucks. But wow, it was a beauty for sure. I WANT one but will stick with my Takamine for now.

I also have a Hohner 5-string Banjo 1-Yamaha f370

3-Vox AD50VT
4-Ibanez JS 1000 1) 1973 Gibson J-45 DeLuxe
2) Fender James Burton Telecaster
3) 1968 Fender Pro amplifier
4) Owned a 1969 Les Paul De Luxe I'd like toi have back
