Question:

Do you think I still have a chance & opportunity to become a star/celebrity?

I'm 24 with not much skill & I'd like to become a music producer, rapper, & actress & probably singer. When was younger, I was shy & now I'd like to explore my creativity. That guy Taylor Hicks from American Idol was 30 & became #1 with no prior vocal training. But if I were to get training & schooling & work on my skill, do you think I can become famous in 5 yrs. if I work on singing, writing songs, & trying to make music beats & stuff? Or am I wasting my time? Many people say I'm too old, but I see people my age who get a modeling or acting gig or something. They think you have to be young, like 6 & 7 to be discovered & have a chance to become a star. I have some song ideas that I wish I can put to use. Is it possible? Many people say record companies would laugh in my face. I hope not. I wonder what other steps do I have to take to try to at least get my foot in the door. I know some artists get rejected 6 or 7 times before they succeed.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Of course you do....you can do anything that you want to at any age....and if you have the talent you can go as far as you want to....look at that guy on American Idol, I think his name was Taylor Hicks....and two months ago I read an article about a 95 year old woman who just got her degree from college....you can do anything you want or be anything as long as like I've said, that you have the talent and the drive to accomplish your dream....go for it !!!!!!! and don't listen to what other people say.....study hard....and be able to take rejection....and just keep trying.....sometimes it's a long road to the top...as any actress, singer can tell you....but as long as that drive keeps you going, don't give up....when your ready put something on youtube....millions will see you...and you never know what agent might be viewing this and say who is that person ? Good luck to you....if you really want this just don't give up !!!!!!!!!! Of course you do, just put the time in to hone your skills and anything is possible, so just keep pluggin' away and follow that star aye...I'm rooting for you (Disclaimer: If you do become a big star, mention me in your thank yous. hehhehe) If you have the desire in your heart to sing or act you should do it. If you succeed good for you, if you don’t so what, you still made the effort. I do think you should re-evaluate your goals before you get in to deep. Being a singer or actress is not the same as being a star or celebrity. You can test the water by joining local theater or taking drama and singing in your community college. I bet the odds of becoming a celebrity are like winning the lottery, but you never know until you try. I AM SHABAHRAM FROM IRAN .
HELLO.
PLEASE WANT THE GOD TO MANAGE YOU IN YOUR LIFE.WITH HIS HELP YOU ARE YOUNG FOR EVER.
SHABAHRAMDOROST@YAHOO.COM Go for it girl! I'm kinda in the same boat. Im 22, and have/had these huge dreams, but had a social anxiety problem. Now Im so over it, but now Im OLD! I think what you have to do is ask yourself WHY you want those things. If they are truly your passions, you'll do them and become great, but even if you dont get 'rich and famous' you'll be ok with it, if you're doing what you love, even if its for hobby and not a career. I believe in always pursuing your passions, talents and hobbies. You never know what opportunities may present themselves to you, and you wanna be ready with all the knowledge and skill you can come up with. So start taking those lessons, practicing, auditioning, build your resume, make a demo, work on your craft. Do you have the equipment to make music? of course you do im still working on my guitar dreams 24 is NOT too old. Good age to be! Get some training and try out for the next American Idol, if that is your wish. BTY though... try to avoid using Taylor Hicks as an example. He might have WON that year, but he career is DEAD now. Your never too old for anything if you set your mind to it.
