Question:

Does drama explore real life issues? Why or why not?

Please help me, this is for an english assignment!!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It can, but the "realness" is "tinged" by the necessity for the actor to impersonate a character. If you just get up there and say things about teen pregnancy or alcohol abuse or whatever AS YOURSELF -- and this is important -- THAT IS NOT DRAMA! Drama requirese two essential things: impersonation of character and conflict. There are teen touring groups that do shows on all kinds of eal life problems and there are plays that explore issues too, but the actors need to be able to successfully portray a character while being someone different themselves. Cetain play publishing houses even have sections for Social Awareness for these kind of scripts
