o i forgot to mention that one reason i want to play it is to help with my composing because its quite frankly hard to make a piano sound rockish plus its a main stream instrument

o i forgot to mention that one reason i want to play it is to help with my composing because its quite frankly hard to make a piano sound rockish plus its a main stream instrument You may want to start of with an electric it all depends on what

your taste is in music not to mention your bugget . . .

You will find however playing an electric guitar much more to

your enjoyment especially in the begining stages due to the

fact it's a lot easier on your fingers when you press down on

the strings especially when learning to form chords, which

is nothing more than a groupe of notes played together . . .

Also the sound tends to be more pleasing to the ear . . .

in any case make sure you have some one who's well

versed in playing a guitar come with you to the music

store so as to know what to look for in the way of how

the guitar is made as well as cost and other things

that will lend itself to making learning this instrument

a more enjoyable as well as benifical experience once

you get home . . .

good luck 2u . . . Source(s):
taught and played guitar professionaly over 50 years, along
with composing on piano and electronic synthersizer . . . if you want to end up playing electric then start with electric. It is definitely better to start off with acoustic because it is harder to perfect your playing skills with acoustic. But once you can play well on acoustic then playing on electric will be no problem. Hi I played guitar for about 4 years but now i just play now and again , start with acoustic though becuase they are basically the same thing if you use acoustic first later on as you come , electric just seems like a pieace of cake! Definitely start with acoustic. Its the way to help you learn how to play electric.
