Question:

What interment do you think is the hardest to play?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There are several instruments I think are hard.

In the Brass section, I think the french horn and trombone are the hardest. The french horn has the smallest mouthpiece in the section so it takes a lot of air and a good and steady embosure to play it. The trombone has, I think, seven positions on it. You have to be very accurate at the position of the slide to make the note sound good. Plus, it comes in handy when you have very long arms cause it would help you reach 7th position.

In the woodwind section, I think the bassoon and the oboe are the hardest because they are double-reeded instruments. Imagine trying to blow air between to slits of wood. That'll be hard to do.

And in the percussion section, I think that the piano and keyboard percussion are harder than the drums. Of course you have your flams, para-diddles, and accent taps, but what about your chromatic, minor, and major scales? It takes a lot of hand and eye coordination to play a mallet instrument. I have been playing mallets for 6 years and just now learning to play with 2 mallets. But 10 years ago, I started piano. It was frustrating at first because your right hand was doing one thing and your left another. It took some blood, sweat, and yes some tears to get to my level of expertise. I remember crying a lot because I couldn't play this measure or get this note right. But as they say, Practice makes Perfect.

Deciding whether an instrument is hard to play is based on how hard you are willing to work at learning it. Are you referring to instruments?

There are plenty hard instruments. I play the harp, so I thought it would be easy to learn to play the piano. I already know how to sight read music, so I was halfway there, but when I realized that my hands would be mirroring themselves side by side (meaning they move differently and crossover fingers differently) it was so hard. It only took a few months before I was intermediate, but I'm pretty quick with learning any instrument, so far.

Also, all the brass instruments hurt my face. I remember trying to blow into my brother's instrument and it almost killed me. I never tried to learn one on my own though.

Also, I never learned any of the strings, but I hear they are difficult because you have to find the right tone and pitch on the string, and make it sound right when coming out. bassoon (but it sounds so nice) I think that the theremin is the hardest instrument to play.

As a military musician, I would have to say that the hardest interments to play are the ones of those who were recently killed overseas. Very emotional. Electric bass - it's the easiest to play but the hardest one to implement maturely in terms of it's role as bridge between rhythm and melody.

If bass is done well, it's almost invisible. But if it's done badly, it's the first thing you'll notice.
