I mean these...

http://img3.guitarcenter.com/dbase/pics/... An electric guitar is usually easier to play because the strings are closer to the frets. You have to build up callouses on your fingers so you can hold the strings down, so conditioning your fingers are # 1, and a lot of practice. Any age is a good age if you reaally want to learn. How hard is it to play?. How bad do you want to?. Source(s):
M, RPO I started at the age of eight about the time I was first able to make a D-chord. With musical instruments, starting earlier is usually better. You're still developing physically and emotionally. In otherwords you haven't developed bad habits yet like us adults.

Generally, electric guitars have thinner necks and thinner strings than say an acoustic guitar making them easier on the fingers when you are first learning.

I gave a Squire Mini to my niece recently. She is seven years old and is learning simple chords like the A-7 and D.

Good luck and keep practising.
