Question:

How can i earn a living playing music?

I hate my job but love music. Been playing guitar for 15 years. How can i use that to make enough money to quit my job? I don't think bar gigs really pay enough.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: teaching is one way. Along with that, if DO want to play music, just do it! I work in the music industry, its mean, its dirty, but its fun, passionate and rewarding at the same time. If you love your art, you should stick to it! There is a lot of talent out there, looking to pair with other talent. Maybe you haven't found the right musicians to play with yet? Perhaps you should do some home studio recording? Are you a gear head? You could also do some techinical guitar work, be a crew member....

I like teaching best. I know many musicians who teach, but thats just one thing they do along with playing their bar gigs...layering your jobs as a musician/artist is essential until you get where you want to be....

I say don't give up but maybe try something else music related while you work at it...Good luck! what's your job exactly?

my brother's step brother is a graphic designer & is also the bassist for his band, so it's simple for him.

if your job requires a lot of time, then try finding another one, but one that you can also have time to play your guitar.

good luck :)
