what are the most creative, innovate albums you've heard done well with alternative methods
from interesting mic placements techniques, mixing, everything...for instance i heard the beatles recorded an album once on a 4 track

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There are tons of ways to record creatively. One technique I have used is you plug a guitar into an amp and place a regular ocsillating fan directly in front of the amp to where it's "blowing" into the speaker and place a mic on the backside of the fan. You know when you talk into the back of a fan, you get that Darth Vader like effect, do this to guitars, piano, even vocals!

Another fun thing to listen to that kind of gives you a 3-D vibe, and is fun for garage bands is to have "swinging mic's." Placement of the band is crucial. You need to have the drums on one side, and the guitars on the opposite side. In the middle of the drummer and the guitars, hang two mic's that are recording to a stero track. Swing one mic toward the drummer and one toward the guitars. You'll create a sweet panning effect.
