Get out in the music business as a solo artist?

Hi, I am a pretty talented guitar/piano player and lately I have been writing a lot, much of it really good stuff I think. I am thinking of trying to take the plunge and try to become known. How should I start??

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Why not put your stuff on youtube....I found one of the worlds greatest classical guitarist on there....and if it wasn't for youtube I wouldn't have known that he existed....his name is Peo Kindgren....So make up a lot of your songs and put them on there...I bet a lot of people are getting discovered because of youtube....we're all trying to get Peo to cut a CD !!!! Also are there any talent shows in your area ? I know this talk radio station that I listen to has a talent contest every weekend down the shore, in the summer, it's probably over for this season...but check it out for next June....the station is 101.5 FM....and the host for this weekend talent show is Big Joe Henry !!! I think youtube is a fabulous way to become known....I wish that they had that years ago, the technology that they have today is fabulous, believe me if your good and go on youtube people will notice....who knows maybe you could even get a record deal !!!!!!!
