Question:

What is meta cinema ?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: In a sense self-reflexive cinema., but that is too broad a term. Unless you are referring to to a specific film movement then this is how I understand it. I have forgotten the title of the film but it was directed by a man named Peter Kubelka. His film was one were the film was not exposed but he manipulated the sound strip. When it ran though the projector you were literally watching film and his manipulations accompanied by white noise. This was my first real "meta cinema" experience. Look up structural film. Hope this helps , but again it is a very broad term. "meta" could be within the narrative like when Mel Brooks includes the camera man in the scene for humor or it could be like Godard, when he plays with elements of sound and editing. It all depends on the context.
