Calling all oboe players!?

i was just wondering if i could get the full rundown ive been playin oboe for four years i love and it ive gotten really good. in august i bought a loree paris c3. normally i play on duste, albion, and jones reeds(medium or mediumhard) and this is my first year in high school. anyways i was wondering when and why you started the oboe, what kind youve got, whats ur experience, any reed tips, and what kind you play on,and more! oboe all the way!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Yes, a fellow oboe enthusiast! I recently bought an (expensive) Loree as well, best decision I every made, I enjoy playing so much more now! I also play on Duste reeds, when they are in stock (grr) and I have been trying to learn to make my own. I would recommend starting to learn as soon as possible. There are some good resources on the web (http://www.yefchak.com/reed/tools_page.h... though I would strongly recommend a private teacher. If you are already taking lessons your teacher could probably start teaching you reed making also. It's not cheap, though. You can order a basic reed making kit through Edmund Neilsen Woodwind for about $90, and more cane and better knives will cost more. Learning to make your own reed will save you more in the long run though!
I started playing in middle school (I switched from flute) because there was no oboe player. And I've been an oboe lover ever since!
Keep up the oboe and try for a college scholarship (that's how I can afford it!).
