Question:

What is the 2 or 3 next to a Chord mean for guitar? EX: G2 or G3?

I undstand major and minor chords. I haven't found a good example or learning tool for guitar chords with numbers after them. Example : G2, G3, D2

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The numbers after the chord letter name are commonly referred to as extensions. For the most part your simply adding that scale tone in. Having a 3 by itself is a little strange though. Sometimes you'll see G(omit3) which is telling you to play a G chord without the 3rd scale tone. There are tons of good books out there. One of the better ones is published by Hal Leonard and it's called Guitar Chords deluxe. You can get it at Borders.
