Question:

Are there any music schools that allow "screaming"?

i wish to apply to a music school but what im most into performing is more of an alternative rock/screamo. i know a real music school could help me strengthen my voice so much but i dont want to just focus on the singing aspect of it. the energy of a live performance both singing and screaming my heart out is so amazingly unbelievable but i know that 99.9% of all vocal instructors would advise against the screaming. are the ANY schools I can apply to that would allow such a genre of music into their program?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Some times music schools are not the best idea of musicians. Music schools produce certain types of musicians, and those types are almost always classical or jazz musicians- if you know you don't want to study classical or jazz music, or musical theater, you probably won't find a good teacher in these settings. But music schools are only one avenue to musical success. Many musicians find the best training in simply performing and learning as they go, others may find a good teacher or mentor along the way- not in university. Some- most- of the best lessons will come from just being around music.

I once asked my composition teacher the best way to become a composer- hoping for him to show me the right university- he said simply "just compose" -school is only there so you can pay someone to tell you what they paid themselves find out- experience will always outweight this.
