Question:

Are there any good songs for a broadway baritone anymore?

My name is Joe and I'm a 17 year old baritenor/belter. I am running out of good songs to sing, and I want to hear some peoples ideas. My range is from a high D falsetto, to the F below staff

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: hmmm Baritone-Belter... thats a new vocal classification... The best broadway music was written for Lyric Baritones. Broadway is filled with this music for Baritones. "I feel you Joanna" from Sweeney Todd, "Empty Chairs", "Stars", "Bring him home" from Les Miserables, "Some Enchanted Evening" from South Pacific, "If I can't love her" from Beauty and the Beast, "So In Love" from Kiss me Kate, "Ol' Man River" from Show Boat... must I go on?

Take it from a true Bass-baritone, I can only sing the lead Bass roles from South Pacific, Porgy and Bess, Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserables (i.e. Emil, Porgy, Gaston) and others because I don't have the high G of a Baritone...

Falsetto doesn't count....listen to the great Broadway Baritones and you will never hear falsetto... and don't carry your chest voice past D above middle C or you won't have a voice when your 30. Find a qualified voice Teacher from NATS and learn how to manage the passagio and if you are a true baritone you will have a high G which is all you need for Broadway.
