Question:

Poetry to perform?

I am in a performance of literature class. I am being asked to pick a poem (about 12-14 lines) to memorize and perform. I am having trouble finding a good one. I want it to be entertaining...not too dark.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I don't know if this is entertaining enough for you but it is certainly a beautiful and moving poem, and easy to learn.

HAD I the heavens?? embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
