Question:

How to you produce glissandos, smears and altissimo on the alto saxophone?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Glissandos are an attempt to simulate the sound a trombone makes moving their slide up or down. On sax the only thing you can do is play very fast notes from one note to the next. Usually try some type of scale. It needs to be very fast though, you don't want to be able to hear individual notes.

Smears can be done by dropping the lower jaw and making the pitch go flat.

To get the altissimo register simply look at a fingering chart. This register will however need more lower jaw support to keep the notes from going really flat.
