Singing - What is resonating?

Ive heard abt resonating or placement but I'm not sure whats that. When I sing into higher notes i aim the notes at the top of my head...I dont really get that feeling where the note is blocked at my notes but instead I have the feeling that if I have infinite amount of air I can reach higher n higher notes.

also do u have any tips to relax the throat wen singinG?
