What song should I sing for my audition?

I'm going to 10th grade next year and hope to go to an art school for vocal music. This is my last year to audition. However, I don't know what song to sing. I prefer to sing alto but can also sing soprano if required. Please give me some ideas!

You may want to try your hand at some opera, if your voice is suited for it, that is. If you sing some modern, all the time heard, they make look at you as a run of the mill american idol wannabe, but if you show them that you have vocal range and knowlege of classical music. That would make you stand out in the talent. If not opera, try a classic, like something by Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday, something that shows you have an appreciation for music other than what's pre-packaged and sold to people today.
