Question:

Numbering music measures with different movements?

Hi, I have to number measures in a piece for something, and I wanted to know, since the piece has two movements, if I should start over at one on the second movement or keep going with the last number of measure on the first movement. Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Start over for each movement. If there's an upbeat at the start, this is not counted as a measure.

If there are repeats written out, you will have to number all the measures, but this often is not done when repeats are used.
