Question:

Which trombone solo will win in a contest against all instruments (flute, piano trumpet etc.) ?

It is easier for other instruments to impress due the fact that they have valves/keys, and their solo lit. is generally more virtuosic. Does a solo exist that can match these instruments if performed well?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There is an arrangement of "Flight of the Bumblebee" for trombone. I'm not sure who arranged it, but I could look it up. If you're looking for virtuosic, this would be it.

A more practical solo might be found in the back of an Arban's Method Book for trombone. I believe most, if not all, of these virtuosic solos have a piano accompaniment somewhere.

Consider these:
Pryor, "Blue Bells of Scotland"
Defaye, "Deux Danses"
solos performed by Joseph Alessi
