How to recover from getting a bad role in a play??

Okay, so we're doing West Side Story, and I got the role of Chino. (yes, I'm a girl. we're seriously adapting it) I wanted to be Anita, and now I'm suuuuuuuuuuuuuper upset. Help on recovery????

Another thing: everybody got a role. Everybody.
And since it's a kid's acting program, we have a few staff members who run all of the technical stuff. :\
