Just do it!
Talk to people who are doing it already. Local radio DJ's, go in buy them lunch / a drink and ask them questions. If your cool they will be more than willing to answer your questions. Ask what would make a good demo.

Make a demo. I've checked in my area and you can get time in a professional recording studio for as little as $25 / hr.
So gather together your best material hit the studio and then hit the streets.
Send it to local radio stations, advertising agencies, and talent agents.
Remember it's not usually what you know but who you know. So, get out there and meet people who are doing what you want to do.
