Projecting Your Voice?

Okay Im a singer, and have a HUGE problem projecting my voice. I can't sing loud!! When i go for lessons thats the complaint i get from my teacher everytime, that i don't project my voice and she can't hear me. How do u project ur voice? Please help! Thank you!

and also, if you tell me to "sing from the diaphgram" Please explain that!!!! I have heard that so many times and it hasn't helped me at all! Please explain it to me if you are going to say that! Thank you!
