Question:

A question for pianists- do you enjoy practicing scales?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Frankly...NO! But the only way to acquire some sort of technique or individual style is by learning notes, chords and the various ways of making 88 keys work for you.

I admit that practicing scales can be very boring, but if your desire is to become a concert pianist...or even a darn good music teacher...you need to have them.

Use 'em as the "springboard" when you're composing your own music. After that...you can go as crazy (with your musical thoughts) as you'd like.
