Question:

Should I try out for Music Theatre?

I've alwasy wanted to perform and I love musicals, my highschool has a course and at the end of the year you perform a musical for the community theatre. I have a huge case of stage fright and i love to sing but don't think i'm very good at it, but this is my last chance to be part of the musical theatre program. how do i overcome this fear of doing this audition? should i go for it?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well, sounds a lot like me. I hated singing and dancing in front of everyone and i couldn't do it. But, this year, our school did the musicals Hairspray and Wicked. They were my two favorite so I told myself, just sing like no one is watching. I auditioned and got the lead role in Hairspray as tracy. Now, I am able to sing in grocery stores and everywhere I go. I can actually sing in rehearsals now without freaking out. Pretend that everyone is deaf or something and just belt it out. Who cares? I learned the hard way that if you don't sing, you'll never get the part. Just go for it. I promise, it's not that bad once you try! :]
