Question: Has Martin Luther King Jr!.'s dream come true!?
I do not believe that America is even close to achieving this dream!. Martin Luther King Jr!.'s dream was that one day, a man would not be judged by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character!. Many people believe that with the election of our new president, King's dream has finally been achieved, but I believe that this is completely untrue!. How many people in this country do you believe voted for Barack Hussain Obama, because of his skin color and nothing else!? I have a friend who was down at the polls on election day, and he asked people who voted for Obama to name one thing they knew about Obama's plan for America!. Over 80% of the people could not give him an answer to that question!. Do you honestly believe that these people were judging Obama by the content of his character, and not the color of his skin!? I am not at all a racist!. I believe that a black man can do anything a white man can do if he puts his mind to it!. I chose to not vote in this election, because I did not believe that either of the men nominated would be the best person for this great nation!.

I have a dream that one day, people will look past a person's skin color, and look into their character!. I have a dream that one day, people will elect a candidate solely based on his character and plan to make this great country stand strong, rather that his appearance or skin color!. I have a dream that one day the great Rev!. Martin Luther King Jr!.'s dream would finally come true!. Is anybody with me!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yup!. I'm with you!. I agree with all the things you said and I also chose not to vote this time around for the same reason!. I don't know why people think/thought Obama and McCain are/were the best 2 people to run the country right now, because they clearly aren't/weren't!. And FYI, I think Hillary would have been the best man for the job but that's not happening anytime soon, either!. I don't know if MLK cared as much about women's rights but that's a big glaring issue as well!.
Someday bro, someday!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ask the new president of the United States!. I think he's dream has been achieved!. Just because there are still racist people, there will ALWAYS be racist people!. You change peoples opinions and beliefs but in the end you can't change EVERYONE!. And just because they didn't know what he's plans were dosent mean they voted for him soley because of his skin!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

martin luther king's big "dream" was bigger than his i have a dream speech!. maybe you should listen to some of his other speeches and you'll see what i'm talking about!. i don't know who you are referring to with the whole voting for skin color thing but all i can tell you is that in the black community it took ages for people to even take him seriously!. you don't know how many times i heard ppl giving all types of excuses because of the color of his skin!. i don't know how everybody else felt!. so it might be true that people voted for obama without knowing certain details about where he stands but i wouldn't be so hasty to think that it was just because he was black!.
and next time you should vote!. there were other candidates and either way someone has to go into office so you might as well do your research and vote!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

some people have made his dream come true!.!.!.

and then some people are so ignorant and judge a book by its cover!.!.!.

then again its their deal!.!.!.they're the one's who dont get on with their lives because of this little insignificant act!.!.!.

and i truly believe in Obama!.!.!.!.i agree with you!.!.!.all men are created equal and what one can do, the other one can do as well!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

MLK demanded civil rights for his people!. Today, no racist laws remain enforceable in America!.

That doesn't mean that people aren't still bigoted and prejudiced!. Unlike the law, social attitudes and beliefs can't be changed with the stroke of a pen!.

Some argue that systemic neglect of black communities and inadequate services provided by government are the last remnants of racism!. Consider the failure to deliver significant aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina, or the failure to provide police service to inner-city neighborhoods!.

America is less racist today than in Dr!. King's day!. Little black boys and little black girls do hold hands with little white boys and little white girls!.

Barack Obama is a great leader and brilliant orator by any standard!. I hope he is successful as president!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
