Henry believed in The Divine Right of Kings!.This idea was that Henry was King because God wanted him to be,therefore everybody should obey the king as if he were God!.This is a form of autocracy -all power in the hands of one person!.Although England had an elected Parliament at this time,the franchise was very limited and Henry was strong enough and ruthless enough to get his own way!.
In terms of foreign policy,Henry described himself as "a little king in a corner" at the beginning of his reign!.He wanted to turn England into a major European power again through military action on the continent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
