1206-1279 – the Mongol Empire second largest empire, largest contiguous empire in the world!.

A lot of countries or empires that became world powers really fast are already mentioned above so I'll just add one more

The main enemy of the US during the Cold War, the Soviet Union became a world power in 28 years- from when they became communist in 1917 to when World War II ended in 1945!. You may say that Russia was a world power even before 1917 but the truth was they were stagnant during that time!. Their agriculture, industry, military were very weak, not something worthy of the term "world power"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
