In medieval times, children were often looked after at monasteries, where the poor generally were taken care of!. After the Dissolution of the monasteries, there were foundling homes which looked after orphan children, a famous one was founded by Thomas Coram in London in the 18th century!. In the 19th century, Doctor Barnardo started his children's homes in London to take care of orphans, eventually there were an enormous number of these homes, Barnardo's is still the largest children's charity in the UK!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
