(ANS) I was born & grew up in the city of Liverpool!. We have a very famous museum of slavery in the city due to Liverpool's links with shipping & the America's!. And of course the Imperial or British Empire which was fueled in part by slavery i!.e!. exploitation of labor!. (this is pre-industrial revolution England)

**As far as I know No! Jewish people were ever directly involved in the slave trade!.

**Believe it or not it was actually African Tribes & Tribal leaders that started Slavery even before the actual European US slave trade took off!. Slavery was a well known & well practiced tradition in several parts of Africa & had been going on for many hundreds of years (that doesn't of course make it OK! but I'm just stating a fact)!.

A slave trader in that time period had to be a person of means in order to apprentice through to become a sea captain!. This was one of the class distinctions that in Britain and North America that excluded Jews!.To buy a ship and outfit it for service cost an immense amount of money and at that time Jews were relegated to trades and middle class mercantilism in most of Europe!. The only nation with a small population of Jews that where a little better off was Holland after liberation from Spain but even there I can't find any evidence that a Jew was involved in slave trading in Africa or Asia!.
Challenge the person or persons that are feeding you misinformation!. You might find out for yourself that they have some other motivations in life that are not so admirableWww@QuestionHome@Com

Yes but hardly instrumental, since there were Jews among the Dutch and the Dutch were deeply involved in the slave trade it only reasonable to say there were Jews involved in the slave trade and in fact many black leaders such as Louis Farakan (mispelled) made an issue out of Jewish involvement in the slave trade!.
However unlike Catholics, for example, who have a Central Authority, the Pope, the Jews did not and do not have some central control agency hatching plots to enslave & torment non Jews!. That said you will probably like the following article!.

Some slave traders were Jews but they were present as individuals rather than an organised group!. To phrase this another way some Jews were involved in the slave trade but the Jewish people as a whole were not!.

Although there were already slaves in Africa when the Europeans came to trade for them it must be noted that demand for slaves for the Europeans was higher than the African tribes own demand so the Africans began to capture each other to sell to the Europeans!. So although there had always been a slave trade in Africa the scale of this increased greatly because of a European market to buy more slaves than ever before!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dr!. King had the right idea about ending discrimination - nonviolence!. Studying!. Bettering yourself!. Not this senseless anger that is still so prevalent nowadays!.

I don't know if you've noticed, but it's not getting you anywhere!. Nobody is going to give you things that you don't deserve!. It's still "felt" in the US because nothing much has happened for the African-American community after Dr!. King's death, and because "black culture" says that it's "cool" to be a "gangsta" and speak in Ebonics but lashes out at those in the community who "act white" or get good grades in school!.
