Question:

Know good sites for tracing heritage?

i know my great great great grandfather's ancestors are hardcore English, (he's famous, don't wanna tell u who though) and so HE'S easy to learn about. but i want to know if I came from any other countries, like on my mom's side or my dad's other relatives. i've tried ancestry.com, but you have to fill it in yourself there. i'm looking for the stuff to fill it in. it's proving hard to find. also, i don't have any money so i can't pay for a website. basically i need a free website that can trace my ancestors back pretty far. if you can help thats great!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You could try ancestry.co.uk there is a free bmd section there, you can search the indices, but you can't download the information. There is also the Mormon site which is completely free, the web address is www.familysearch.org/eng this one is also really good for the old stuff. If you want to give me your mums name and where she was born I will start your search for you, I have world membership to ancestry.co.uk and .com. I am also a student of the open university doing a genealogy course. If you would like me to get you started my email address is mamsgel1956@yahoo.co.uk good luck email me if you need help, Diane.
