Does anyone have any information on James Meng or Ming?

I'm not sure which last name is right.He was born in South Carolina in 1838.That's all I know

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: He's with his father in MS 1850, his mother Nancy just died Jan1850 of childbed fever. Later than that you should be able to find him on census free at HeritageQuest online through your state library system.

James MENG died in the Civil War at Altoona, GA, left a widow & child. But I bet you knew that.

Oops, might be a little hard for newbies to find 1860 & he won't be there with Melvina 1870.
