I am trying to find my medical files and my doctor is deceased?

I want to know that, too, although I haven't researched it yet.

I think I'd try to find out who bought the "medical practice."

Probably in a will/probate for that doctor, located in county courthouse records. There also might be a newspaper article and/or obit that would tell who "got" the medical records. Such as, "Patients will find their medical records at thus and so hospital."

If s/he retired first, then you could look up information via the address. Find a phone number and call.

And...
the medical licensing board in the state of practice might know as well.

This will probably be an easier search than for most other records, as medical records are legal records.
