Research on the net is only as good as the researcher and there is a lot of bad info out there. It's a lot of hard work to really research your family tree. It can be very costly too to obtain documents to prove what you have found. I suggest that you get the book "unpuzzling your past". This will take you step by step in tracing your family. Most websites out there are subscription. Not many are free.
