Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: OK - This is what Ihave so far for you.

Your Mark Medici was Christened on 26 Sep 1828 in Richmond nr Leyburn, Yorkshire. His parents were Mark Medici and Ann Lamb. His father was a Hawker (travelling salesman) born in Scotland in about 1805. His mother was born in Yorkshire in about 1796.

In 1841 he was travelling with his father and his older brother Richard and they were in Aylsgarth, Yorks. His mother Ann was in Sheffield with his 2 sisters Maria & Rosanna and his youngest brother Joseph.

In 1848 he married Ambrosina (born in Leeds about 1833)in Ripon, Yorks by which time his father had died (1845 in Aylsgarth).

At the time of the 1851 Census he was listed as living with wife Ambrose in Steam Mill Yard, St Cuthberts,Darlington, Yorks and was a Traveller in Muslins, born in Richmond, Yorkshire abt 1828 and his 2 sons Mark Ambrose age 2 & Thomas age 1 month are with him.

His widowed mother Ann is living next door with her daughters, Roseanne, Margaret & Ann and son Joseph with her and is also a Traveller in Muslins.

In the 1861 Census he was in South Street, Middlesborough, Yorks married to Ambrogina (sic. could be a g or a z), and was a clock & watchmaker born in Richmond, abt 1828. By this time he had all the kids and his mother Ann living with him.

In the 1871 Census he was back in St Cuthberts, Darlington, Durham, Yorks , in No 15 Skinnergate, listed as a Watchmaker. Mark Ambrose is a Watchmakers Traveller & Thomas a Watchmakers Apprentice. Amelia is a teacher.

His mother Ann is living in 14 Jacksons Yard, Bondgate, Darlington and at the age of 71 is a seamstress. She is the head of the household with a female lodger that's a milliner (hatmaker)

Mark died in 1874, age 45,cause unknown, but you should be able to get his death certificate easily enough which would tell you.

In the 1881 Census Ambrosina was living as a Widow in Russell St, Darlington with the children . The 2 older boys, Mark Ambrose & Thomas, are listed as Jewellers and the youngest, Sylvester as a jewellers apprentice. Amelia & Agnes are also there.

In the 1901 Census Sylvester is in the High Street, Loftus, Yorks living and working as a watchmaker with a Gold Jeweller called Solari, an old man of 84.

In 1901 Thomas was a Travelling Jeweller, married to Fanny (age 30, born in Harrogate) and living with his children Lorenzo (age 15) & Teresa (age 3), boarding at No 21 Percy St, Nelson, Lancashire.

Anne, Marks mother died in Darlington in 1885 aged 89.
Marks son Mark Ambrose seems to have died in 1886 while visiting or working in Kensington, London aged 32.
Ambrosina died in Carlisle, Cumbria in 1895 age 61

Mark seems to have had a brother Joseph, who was born in 1839 and died in 1868 in Darlington aged 29. His other brothers were Charles b. 1827, Peter b.1832 (who died) and then another Peter b.1834 and a sister Maria b. 1830.

The family seem to have been based in Manfield, Yorkshire from 1833 to approx 1840 as all the children were christened in the Cliffe Roman Catholic Church between those dates including the three oldest who were born elsewhere.

So 3 generations of Mark Medici's
1) Born about 1800-05 in Scotland married to Ann, died 1845
2) Born 1828 in Richmond, Yorkshire married to Ambrose(ina), died 1874
3) Born 1854 in Thirsk, Yorkshire, died 1886

I just hope you can make some sense of this. I have tried to make it as easy to understand as possible and hope it is of help and is what you are looking for . If you want more info just email me.

Update:

Just found the marriage record for Mark in Ripon in 1848. His brides name was Ambrose Frances (thats why I couldnt find it before, I was looking for Ambrosina, But Ambrose is definitely correct (and is actually what she's called in the 1851 Census) and obviously got modified to Ambrosina. The record is in Vol. XXIII, page 457 of the Ripon Marriage Registers.

Now found her Christening record: AMBRIS FRANCES - 22 APR 1833 Saint Patricks, York Road-Roman Catholic Church, Leeds, Yorkshire, England

Father - Thomas Frances Mother - Bella
