Question:

I wanna trace my Turner ancestors from England.?

The surname is Turner. They migrated from England to Fiji. A couple of them migrated from Fiji to Queensland, Australia. How can I trace my ancestors back to England? I only know of an uncle in Rockhampton and another in Baldhill, Queenland. The rest are a total mystery. There could be relatives in England right now that I don't know of. Any clues as to how I can go about tracing my ancestors?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: England has great records of births marriages and deaths, not as good as Scotland, Scotland has older records. They used to be kept in the one place but I don't know about now. You can get a book from the library there you will find it step for step and what to do if you come up against a wall, or contact the Mormon site for genealogy they have great records onling. Or you could contact a service in the UK who specializes in Genealogy. Your name is Turner, I wonder if you are related to the famous painter Turner, he is very famous and his work hangs in the bigger art galleries and museums in the UK. Turner is an old name. Australia is a bit mroe difficult. Prisoners were shipped from England to Australia and often they changed there name or no records were kept of their departure or landing.
