Question:

Ancestry (longerbeam) where did I come from?

ok get this I found a lot of my relitives in Harpers Ferry wv and they say we are English I thought we were german. They say we came over on the second ship the (Furtune) first the mayflower, and that we are desendants of Robert Hicks who signed the mayflower compact in 1623. that a longerbeam married in the family. If this is true ! how did we get here we did not come on the mayflower!I checked the list and I did find that longerbeam means langerbein or langbein in german< so what is going on I have searched and searched and can not find any longerbeams in England. Also one lady said her grandmother is a longerbeam and is russian. PLease some help he I am so confused? any fedback would be great!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You will need to reconstruct your own genealogy, that is 'family tree', beginning with your family and work back in time and generations to learn where your Longerbeams came into the picture, who he was, and who his parents were, and his father's parents, on back.

You cannot just guess or pick one.

For instance the Abraham born about 1840 found 1870 WV may be the same one found 1850 census District 12, Clarke, Virginia; Roll: M432_940; Page: 187; Image: 372, age about 12, son of William and Rebecca who said they were born about 1810 VA. Page 184 has a George Longerbeam born about 1775 VA. You may find them earlier in Frederick, VA as Longerbone.
