Question:

Looking for McKnight relatives in Scotland...?

My third great-grandfather was James McKnight who lived in the Govan district of Glasgow in 1891. James and his wife, Jane McLatchie McKnight, had six children - John, James, Hannah, Archibald, William, and Jane. John McKnight was my second great-grandfather. He married Jeanie S. Clark in Glasgow in 1899. My great-grandfather, James McKnight, was born in 1900 on Aikenhead Road in Glasgow. He immigrated to the US sometime around 1920. If anyone has info on descendants of this family in Scotland, please let me know. Thanks.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Try starting with the Glasgow national library and give them two spellings: McKnight and MacKnight. This is because of hand written records and errors often found on documents.
Then see if there is a historical society in Glasgow and maybe a genealogical society as well.
Again, use both spellings. If your great grandfather's name was McKnight, then his family tree may start in Ireland and have come to Scotland during the time of Queen Mary (it's a religious thing) or around 1850 (during the potato famine).
