Question:

Why is the geneology of Christ important?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It actually makes no sense because according to most Christians Jesus wasn't Joseph's actual son. Since Joseph is the one who is reported to be from the line of David and not Mary then Jesus is not of the line of David except by adoption. For Jesus to be descended from David then Joseph would have had to father him and it wouldn't have been an immaculate conception. Most Christians don't accept this so why they say he's from the line of David I don't understand. Besides which there is no evidence for Joseph being descended from David (and hey there's not much to say David actually existed) so it really is quite absurd.
