Question:

How do I find out if someone is deceased?

I know the current town, but that is all.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If they lived in the United States, a great place to begin would be to look them up on the Social Security Death Index. Here is the link

The Social Security Death index has their name, date of birth, date of death, the state the card was issued, and sometimes place of last benefit, and place of last residence. Not everyone is in there, but it would be a great place to start.

There is an advanced search on the page in case the person had a really common name. This would help narrow doen multiple hits.
