The best places to look for people with the same last name for the purpose of Genealogy is Family Search (ancestors), Ellis Island, phone books, zabasearch, and a few others. But the top one is GENFORUM. Go to the main site, plug in your last name and if there is a Forum, read and post with distant cousins (possibly your mother). In the case of Alegria, there are no Forums, so you could start one, then if anyone responded they would be addressing you. Zabasearch had too many to list in the USA, so you would have to select specific states in the US and run the search again.
