Question:

Looking for old place in lanarkshire called cornsulloch or cornsullock it was near larkhall?

cornsulloch or cornsullock (not sure of spelling) was where my father and his brothers and sisters were born in the 20s and grew up there the family name was mcvie i dont think the place exists anymore but i would like to know where it was and any other information about it

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There is a place called Cornsilloch between Dalserf & Larkhall. There are links below for a map and as it comes under the Dalserf Parish a list of heads of familiies for the parish in 1755 including Cornsilloch.

Had a look in 1901 & 1891 census lists for Dalserf. Not spelt McVie but McVee & McVey and mining families living in Meadowhill Row, Dalserf. may have moved to Cornsilloch Row later. Heres a ist of the Miners housing including the Rows in Dalserf Parish in 1910.

You'll find references to the mine at Cornsilloch amongst all these accident reports.

Transcript of 1841 Census for Dalserf Parish (including Cornsilloch) shows no McVee, McVey or McVie families
