Question:

Can't find a Greg Curry that died in Columbus, Indiana in the 1970's He died of a gunshot wound. Need info pls

Looking for info on this boy. He was a classmate when I was in 5th grade. He died over spring break of an accidental gunshot wound in the mid seventies. I never knew what happened to his family after that. Once in a while I think of him, we were friends. I think Greg Curry had a younger brother. If I can find info on the family, with your help, I'd appreciate it, I've been looking and haven't found anything.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There are 2 Gregory Currys in the ssdi that may fit... one, dob 31 oct 1953, died May 1973. It did not specify where he died, but ss # issued in Missouri? The other was born 1951, d. Feb 1971, again place not shown but card issued in Calif.
On the chance that he actually had another first name that he didn't use... I tried all Curry's who died in Indiana, but there were more than 300.
IF this is not the right one (first one sounds closer), the next step would be to "work" the genweb county site for that location, and see if you can pick up a cemetery record. Maybe you would remember where he was buried, if you went to the funeral. Having a "good" date is what might lead to a funeral record or obit, and find the parents names. From there, it is possible parents are still living and there are many "live" search sites.
