Question:

What percentage of Cherokee would someone have to be to be considered American Indian on a college Application

My daughter is more cherokee than anything else. She has 2 great grandparents that were 100% cherokee. Does this qualify her for American indian tribal affiliation or for college applications? She is more Cherokee than any other heritage.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: In order for her to be recognized by the Cherokee Nation she must be able to prove by birth, death and marriage certificates that she is Cherokee. The ancestor must be registered with the Cherokee Nation. Then an application with documentation must be submitted to the tribe for consideration. This does not mean they will accept her. This does not mean that she is entitled to anything.
