Question:

Is there a Uk newspaper I can write to find relatives to help with a family tree?

My dates are very vague and have tried all the free genealogy sites. Most want large sums of money. I would like to track down a couple of cousins who my still be alive and have better info.As I dont have exact dates it makes it hard. The Daily telegraph has a search page here, is there one Uk paper that does too?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Hi, I am in the UK. There are many daily newspapers here, and not all people read the global known ones like the Daily Telegraph & the Times. There are many local daily newspapers too, so you may find it very difficult to track people down in that way.

Your best way to find them is by doing a search of the electoral roll, you can do this online for a very small fee.

Look at the link below. They take Visa & Mastercard and you can do it all online. Your other bet would be to contact BBC radio 1 or BBC radio 2 they may be able to help on one of their programmes. Or you could contact ITV television station they may also be able to help. They are both our main stations apart from SKY.

Here is the link for the Electoral Roll:
